Lingering Taste

Hello, all you lovely people. As usual I’m terribly late with my submission, because I was blank and searching for ideas, and then I suddenly got it, I’m afraid its not very good though, Anyway, here’s my entry to FF, a lovely blog posted by our very own Rochelle Wisoff-Fieldswho gives us a photo prompt every week so we can write a 100 word piece of fiction on it. Thank you Janet Webb for this week’s photo!

Here are my 100 words 🙂

Edward Kimberly, frantic with worry, reported his wife missing the day after Christmas.

Five days later, he sat in the kitchen swirling the contents of his wineglass when the police arrived with the news that Serena Kimberly’s body had been found in a dark alley with her throat slit open. “The killer drained her of her blood, Sir”said a policeman.

“My God!” Edward accidentally knocked his glass into the sink. “Who would do that to her?”

“That’s what we’re investigating, Sir.”

What a pity! Edward thought. It was the last glass left. Serena’s blood had tasted wonderful with wine.

Hi! I'm Sam, an 18 year old certified mad chick who likes to imagine that she can write. I live in India, a colourful, diverse country which is sadly getting polluted everyday by more and more violence....something no citizen can be proud of. I enjoy reading-basically horror, watching romcoms and horror flicks(yes, again horror, my favourite being Sinister- its psychotic just like me), eating( food, oh yes, I love foooooood), attending college, and most of all(oh, do stay and listen a while longer) I love animals. I have periodic urges to own and look random "pets". Currently I wish to own a baby elephant, which I will name Thama. I write to express what I feel, to keep that small creative bone alive in my body, and to make readers happy. I hope you like what I write!

  1. Goosebumps, goosebumps and goosebumps!
I just can’t have enough of your story.
    Fabulous, extraordinary, magnifique!

  2. Good story. This is a man with extremely odd tastes who, I fear, is going to jail.

  3. Creepy, murderous husband and he is going to get away with it! This is really a good story – you are great! Thanks, Nan

  4. Ooh, creepy!
Don’t you just hate it when you knock over your last glass of blood?
    Cool story 🙂

  5. Dear Tinkerbelle,

Now that raised the bar on creepy. Well done.

A word of advice. I wouldn’t preface anything you write with “it’s not very good.” Let the reader decide. 😉 Self deprecation isn’t a good trait for a writer who wants to be published. If you don’t believe in yourself, how can you expect others to?

It was a good piece of writing BTW.

  6. Creepy for sure and open to so many interpretations. Excellent work.

  7. I got icicles on my spine… really most chilling.

  8. i agree with rochelle’s comment. this is definitely a great story, btw. creepy but great 🙂

This is how I like flash fiction. With a wicked twist.

  10. Ewww! Now I’m going to have to rethink that glass of wine I was going to have with dinner–your story would be on my mind with every sip! Well done. 🙂
