Friday Fictioneers
This is my first attempt at writing 100 word flash fiction for Friday Fictioneers. Rochelle Wisoff-Fields is our gracious host at FF. The challenge is to write a 100 word flash fiction based on the photo prompt chosen by Rochelle. This week the photo is by Bjorn Rudberg.

WEDDING VOWS
Just because I’m dead, doesn’’t mean I’m not here, Bill grumbled often to himself. The past four years had been comfortable enough for him. He loved his Miriam enough to be happy just seeing her everyday. He’d thought that she had loved him too. But then Alan came along with those ugly flowers and that bucktoothed smile, and now Miriam was leaving her Bill alone! That would not do. Hadn’t she promised to love him and only him forever? Miriam would have to keep her wedding vows. Bill would see to it.

Dear Tinkerbelle,
Welcome to Friday Fictioneers. Consider yourself invited and not barging in. 😉 I’ll warn you that once you’ve joined it’s hard to leave.
I enjoyed your unique take on the prompt. Afraid Miriam’s in for a rough go. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle

January 23, 2014 at 10:12 am
Spooky! And Bill seemed so nice at first. Kinda felt sorry for him, being dead an all.
January 23, 2014 at 11:38 am
I know,he was nice but then look what Miriam went and did 😀 so I guess he won’t be nice anymore!
January 23, 2014 at 6:05 pm

Welcome to FF.
January 23, 2014 at 1:29 pm
Thank you! 🙂
January 23, 2014 at 2:33 pm
Ah, the eternal struggle in two people’s understanding of one emotion – of one being “left behind” by the other, who in this case I’m sure felt very much the same.
I really loved this piece – I can’t wait to see more.
January 23, 2014 at 2:38 pm
Thank you! 🙂
January 23, 2014 at 3:42 pm

January 23, 2014 at 3:43 pm
Thanks! 😀
January 23, 2014 at 4:20 pm
Sam, welcome to the Fictioneers. I guess “until death do us part” didn’t quite work for him. 🙂 A jealous ghost sounds like a recipe for disaster!
janet
January 23, 2014 at 4:23 pm
It IS disaster for poor Miriam! 😀 thank you for the warm welcome 🙂
January 23, 2014 at 5:17 pm

January 23, 2014 at 6:55 pm
Welcome Tinkerbelle! You will soon see that this Friday Fictioneers becomes and addiction, and the community is wonderful! So, welcome. Wonderful story, that leaves this reader hanging for more… 18 years old! Wow. You go for it, and write! I am a huge fan of India (I’ve brought 2 of my 3 kids there, and the 3rd and I will go next year)… where are you? What part of India? Welcome.
January 24, 2014 at 7:39 am
Thank you! You’re very kind to welcome me like this, I don’t feel nervous anymore 🙂 I live in the City of Joy, Kolkata. Its humid and congested but the food’s great and so is the history associated with this place. Where in India did you visit? Let me know! I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂
January 24, 2014 at 9:29 pm
I have visited Delhi, Varanasi (my favorite!), Jaipur, Jaisalmere, Agra, Cochin, and parts of the south… love it. I haven’t been to Kolkata… yet. 😉
February 1, 2014 at 4:43 am
Oh I’ve never been to western India, that is Rajasthan, Gujarat and the nearby places, but I’ve always wanted to. I’m so glad you enjoyed. Do make plans on visiting north eastern India sometime! You’re sure to love it 🙂
January 23, 2014 at 7:02 pm
Welcome to FF!
A great start with a psychotic ghost on the loose. You have to let go and move on, Bill (I don’t think he will though, I think Miriam and Alan are in for a tough time 🙂 ).
January 24, 2014 at 7:35 am
That they are! Mean Bill, he just won’t understand! 😀 Thank you for your comment and for welcoming me, it feels amazing to be part of this lovely community!
January 23, 2014 at 9:51 pm
I think he’s just insulted by her choice of his replacement–“ugly flowers and that bucktoothed smile”. He wouldn’t have minded it so much if she’d chosen a classier guy–would have reflected better on him.
January 24, 2014 at 7:33 am
Gosh! that’s a nice take! I never thought of it but that might have been one of the wedding vows too 😀
January 23, 2014 at 10:11 pm
Brilliant, this is only my second time at Friday Fictioneers and your right when you say everyone’s so friendly, they really are 🙂 Well done by the way 🙂
January 24, 2014 at 7:29 am
thank you 😀
January 24, 2014 at 12:59 am
Bill will see to it, so he shall! Just imaging a pissed spirit targeting Alan
January 24, 2014 at 7:28 am
haha yes, Bill is pissed!
January 24, 2014 at 8:37 am
Wow, you are good at creepy! I would like to know how he got back at his beloved wife. He must be in a vase? Well, you will do well with this – I’m impressed and thanks for the vivid vision in my mind. Great! Nan
January 24, 2014 at 8:43 am
Thank you so much Nan! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
January 26, 2014 at 2:00 am
Good story! It sounds to me like he’s on the mantlepiece watching from an urn. Makes me wonder how he’s going to keep Miriam from the guy she likes.
February 1, 2014 at 4:40 am
Thanks! 😀
January 27, 2014 at 1:13 pm
welcome to FF! I am only her since a few month but I enjoy it very much and I improve my English…
a really spooky story, I wonder what Bill will come up with next ! Thanks for sharing,
liebe Grüße
Carmen

thank you so much 😀
January 27, 2014 at 5:17 pm
I guess he missed that part in the vows that said “until DEATH do us part.” Or maybe he just doesn’t want her to marry some dorky looking guy with poor taste in flowers. 🙂
February 1, 2014 at 4:39 am
XD it may be either!
February 15, 2014 at 6:34 am
A belated welcome here.
